NORIKURA TIMES (Winter Edition 2)

This year is said to be a warm winter, but the mornings and evenings get very cold and you can feel the harsh winter cold at Norikura Plateau.
We will bring you the latest information on Norikura, including snow activities and snow scenery that can only be enjoyed in winter.

1. Ski resort

Located in Norikura Plateau,Mt. Norikura Snow ResortThe snow quality at "Snow Peak" is fine powder snow. Especially after a fresh snowfall, skiers and snowboarders rush to get in and enjoy the floating sensation of powder snow.

Of course, even those new to skiing and snowboarding, or those with small children, can enjoy themselves at Mt. Norikura Snow Resort.

A must-see for beginners is the "Beginner's Pack (Empty-handed)This is a great value package that includes ski or snowboard rentals, clothing, and a three-piece accessory set, lessons, and a lift ticket for 9,500 yen for adults and 7,200 yen for children.

There will also be some great information for parents, such as events that families can participate in and days when children in elementary school and younger can ride the lifts for free. Please see below for details.

② Snow Hike

The trails within Norikura Plateau can be enjoyed on snowshoes or nature skis not only during the green season but also in the winter when the area is covered in pure white snow.

There are many attractive routes to choose from, such as passing through snow-covered forests to the frozen waterfall of Sanbontaki, or navigating Ichinose in the silence of a vast snowy field.

Why not immerse yourself in the pure white beauty of nature by snowshoeing or nature skiing?

*Please enjoy individual activities at your own risk. If you are not confident, we recommend joining a guided tour. It is particularly easy to get lost in the Sanbontaki area, so we recommend joining a guided tour.

3. Morning glow of Mount Norikura

The morning glow of Mt. Norikura can be enjoyed from Norikura Plateau.
*Morgenrot: A phenomenon in which the mountains turn red when illuminated by the morning sun

It is beautiful in any season, but when covered in pure white snow, Mt. Norikura shines even more beautifully, reflecting the red of the morning sun.

If you want to enjoy the morning glow in the great outdoors, we recommend viewing it at Ichinose.
However, in winter, cars cannot enter Ichinose, and you will need to walk about 30 minutes from the tourist center.
Therefore, if you want to enjoy it easily, we recommend viewing it from near the tourist center.
In early January, the sun rises around 7:00 a.m. On a clear morning, why not get up a little earlier to see this beautiful moment?
