The snow that falls in Norikura is known for being the finest powder snow. Every winter, Mt. Norikura Snow Resort (Blue Resort Norikura) is visited by hardcore fans seeking the quality of the snow, and is also popular with families looking to relax and enjoy playing in the snow. Another great thing about Norikura is that you can enjoy a superb hot spring after skiing. We will introduce you to the slopes of Norikura and the charm of playing in the snow that is unique to Norikura.

Enjoy the finest powder snow

Due to the high altitude, powder snow can be enjoyed even at the bottom of the slopes (1,500m above sea level). The snow that falls due to the intense cold that comes mainly in the mornings and evenings covers the slopes with each grain retaining its crystal shape. The snow born under favorable weather conditions is so fine that it slips through your fingers when you pick it up, and its surface is characterized by its smooth texture.

The powdery snow is carefully packed down, making for an exceptionally smooth ski experience! Once you experience the soft, fluffy snow at Norikura and its unique floating sensation, the snow at other ski resorts will seem heavy, and you'll find yourself wanting to ski on that snow again! This is truly an enchanting powder snow.

About Norikura Onsenkyo

You can also safely challenge the backcountry of Mt. Norikura with a local guide.

Stepping further into the slopes, you'll find yourself in the backcountry. If you climb the tour course from the top of the ski resort, you can enjoy a spectacular descent of 3,000m to 1,500m, and even stay overnight at Igahara Sanso, which is open in the winter.

Because snow mountain climbing and skiing skills are required, it is best for inexperienced people to take a tour and learn about snow hiking and avalanche prevention before attempting this. Experienced local guides will support those who want to take on the challenge of snow mountains.

*Any activities outside the ski resort area are at your own risk. In particular, when entering the summit area, please be sure to be fully equipped and skilled enough for mountain climbing in the harsh winter.
