❹ Hot Spring Tour (3 Norikura Hot Springs and Shirahone Onsen)

One of the things you'll want to enjoy to the fullest, especially on a rainy day, is a hot spring. Norikura Highlands is a hot spring resort with three hot spring sources, called Norikura Onsenkyo, and there are about 60 inns with hot springs on the plateau. Even if the source is the same, the atmosphere varies depending on the inn. It's nice to relax and enjoy the hot springs at your usual inn, but you can also visit facilities that accept day-trip bathers and take a tour of the hot springs on the plateau, which will give you a different experience.

Speaking of hot springs, we also recommend a visit to Shirahone Onsen, which can be accessed by bus from Norikura Kogen. If you take it for 3 days, you won't catch a cold for 3 yearsShirahone Onsen, known for its high efficacy that has led to legends like this, is a famous hot spring that is visited by hot spring fans from all over the country. It's raining, so why not take a trip to Shirahone?

5. If it's light rain, wear rain gear and go for a light hike.

Just because it's raining doesn't mean you can't walk at all. If it's only a light rain, we recommend putting on your rain gear and going on a light hike. You'll have a chance to see scenery and natural formations that are unique to the rain. The raindrops that sparkle on the leaves like jewels and the moist, fresh atmosphere of the forest are special experiences that can only be experienced in a gentle rain. Why not try heading out into the lush rain forest?

*Please pay attention to the weather forecast and refrain from walking around if it looks like the rain is getting heavier or there is a risk of thunderstorms.

What do you think? You won't have to say "I don't know what to do or where to go" on a rainy day at Norikura Highlands anymore (lol). In addition to the things introduced here, you can also relax and read a book at the inn, or head to the surrounding areas such as Takayama and Azumino to enjoy some time outside the outdoors.
