Norikura-dake spring mountain bus to the longed-for "snow corridor".

Even though spring has arrived on the plateau, the Norikuradake Spring Mountain Bus operates in early spring when snow still remains on the mountain. The section of the Norikura Echo Line from Sanbontaki Falls to the summit of Mt. Norikura (Tamatamidaira) is subject to restrictions on private vehicles and closed during the winter (November to June). You can see the spring mountain bus that operates in this section in conjunction with snow removal work."Snow Corridor"We will also introduce some special experiences you can have in the spring mountains where snow still remains.

❶ What you can do on the Haruyama Bus

From the end of April to early June, when the plateau has completely transitioned to spring, you can enjoy the special experience of enjoying the remaining snow on Mt. Norikura at the "Snow Corridor." Take the Spring Mountain Bus to the Snow Corridor and when you get off at the bus stop, you'll be surrounded by the crisp, cold air and towering walls of snow, as if you've gone back to winter. The natural contrast between the white of the snow and the blue of the sky will make your heart leap with excitement.

Touching the high snow walls in the snow corridor or even just taking a short walk surrounded by them can be a joyous experience, perhaps because it allows you to rediscover the feeling of winter, which has long since passed. For those who enjoy heading out into the spring mountains on skis or snowshoes, the long-awaited season has arrived. Also, the extension of the service area to the Oyukikei glacier will broaden the range of things you can do.

❷ Playing in the remaining snow

It's amazing how touching snow can make anyone feel like a child again. Seeing the last of the snow that has piled up over the winter on the mountains, feeling its coolness, listening to the sound of the snow melting... there are so many ways to enjoy it.
It's especially fun for parents and children to bring a sled. Of course, the kids will have a blast sledding, but it's also nice to join them and have fun playing in the snow on the open mountain.

The snow corridor is also a great spot for taking photos. No matter where you snap your photo, it's sure to be a special and memorable one. There are also spots where you can see the Hotaka mountain range beyond the snow walls, so be sure to capture on camera the special moment of the "spring snowscape" that is unique to mountainous areas. It can get cold on cloudy or windy days, so be sure to dress warmly.

3. Heading out to the mountains in spring

While it's great to leisurely gaze upon nature, the spring mountains of Mt. Norikura are the perfect place for those who want to get more active and enjoy nature. Ski or snowboard through the expansive panorama at an altitude of over 2,600 meters, or enjoy spring mountain trekking to Mt. Kengamine using snowshoes and crampons. Mt. Norikura is a deep mountain that will satisfy your outdoor passion.

Skiing at Norikura Oyukidake will be possible until the snow remaining on the snowfield thins out. You can access the area by taking the Norikura Summit (Tatami-daira) shuttle bus, which will be in operation from July, following on from the Haruyama bus.
