Rikura at Home VOL.2 "Pilates at Home

Pilates you can do at home

Hello everyone!
# Riding at home'I'm Azumi, your navigator.
It's May and the temperatures are rising!
Trees and flowers are suddenly starting to sprout on Norikura Plateau, and it makes my heart warm.

During this self-restraint period, I can only stay at home, but I try to get as much sunlight as possible. I feel like my body becomes a little more energetic when I sunbathe.

If you stay at home all the time, you start to worry about not getting enough exercise.
I love to exercise, and having studied yoga before, I search for yoga on YouTube and do stretches and other slightly challenging poses to make sure my core stays strong. Exercising while breathing in the fresh air of Norikura feels really good.

By the way, do you know Pilates?
I'm actually interested in Pilates, but I'm a complete beginner and don't even know the difference between yoga and Pilates.

I did a little research on the differences.

Yoga is training, Pilates is exercise

[Yoga]

Some popular yoga classes are conducted as exercise, so many people may think of it as a form of sport. However, yoga, which began as a form of training, is now seen as having the primary goal of connecting the mind and body through its poses, known as asanas, breathing techniques, and meditation, and achieving the most stable state of mind and body. Simply put, a stable state of mind means a fulfilled mind and a feeling of "happiness." Yoga places great importance on this mental aspect.

[Pilates]

This was originally created for rehabilitation purposes. It is an exercise designed to build strong, flexible muscles without putting strain on the body. It places particular emphasis on strengthening the deep muscles, particularly those around the abdomen, and correcting any misalignments or imbalances in the pelvis, spine, shoulders, and other skeletal structures. By guiding you to proper posture, it also helps to create a body that is less susceptible to injury.

Hmmm. I see.
Pilates is all about caring for the human body.
"That makes me even more interested!" he said excitedly.
Then I realized, "There's a Pilates teacher in Norikura!"
Yes, I thought I would learn from Yasuyo, a native of Norikura Highlands who loves nature and Pilates.

I immediately contacted Yasuyo and asked her to teach me the basics of Pilates, which even beginners can do, and she sent me a very easy-to-understand video.

This is the Pilates menu that Yasuyo taught me.

  1. Ankle rotation/wrist rotation inward and outward[Five times each]
  2. breathing[5-7 times while sitting]
  3.  Pelvic Clock[Lying on your back 5-7 times]
  4. Dead Bug[Ly on your back, alternating left and right for 5-7 sets]
  5. Basic Bridging[5 to 7 sets]
(Please keep your feet at the width of your sitting bones.)
  6. Spine Twist[5 sets while sitting]
  7. Mermaid [5 sets while sitting]
  8. Extension exercises[3 to 5 sets]

~Advice from Yasuyo~

① Keep breathing
② Inhale through your nose/exhale through your mouth
3. Regardless of the number of repetitions, do as many as you feel comfortable with.

Enjoy your Pilates Life!

What did you think?
I also tried Pilates and it made my body feel so much better!
Normally, I don't often pay much attention to my breathing, but when I breathe carefully during Pilates, I feel like my body is happy.
I think it would be great to wake up in the morning and start my day with this Pilates routine.
Please give it a try!

And there's more news to come!
In order to allow everyone to experience the Norikura atmosphere while doing Pilates at home, we have uploaded a 30-minute video called "Norikura Time" to YouTube, which features the beautiful sights and sounds of Norikura Highlands, in addition to the Pilates video.
You can try doing Pilates on two screens, with the scenery of Norikura on the TV and Yasuyo's lesson on your computer, or once you get used to the poses and the order, try doing it while relaxing and watching the "Norikura Time" movie. We hope you will use it in any way you like.

If the situation becomes such that you can come to Norikura again,
Try doing yoga or Pilates at home in the grasslands of Norikura Plateau, enjoying the air, smells, sounds, and scenery.
My recommendation is yoga or Pilates in the grasslands at Ichinose Garden!
I can't wait!

Thank you for watching today.
