NORIKURA TIMES (Norikura Hot Spring Tour)

Hello! As February begins, a severe cold wave has hit the country. The weather has gotten even colder in Norikura Highlands, with cold days continuing. But the snow has piled up, covering the area in fluffy powder snow! After enjoying the powder snow at a ski resort, a soak in a hot spring is truly special. In this article, I'll share my experience of skiing at Mt. Norikura Snow Resort as a beginner, and introduce the three hot springs in Norikura.

1. Mt. Norikura Snow Resort: Enjoyable even for beginner skiers

I moved to Norikura in 2023 and experienced skiing for the first time in my life at Mt. Norikura Snow Resort. I first signed up for beginner lessons at the ski resort and started by practicing V-shaped skiing. However, at first I couldn't stop and kept falling... (laughs).
Seeing the kids around her skiing with ease, she practiced frantically, saying, "One day I'll do it too!" This season she has improved little by little, and is now able to try new courses.

"Mt. Norikura Snow Resort" has a wide variety of courses for beginners to advanced skiers, making it a ski resort that anyone can enjoy. There are few people especially on weekdays, which is a great environment for beginners.I'm afraid I might bump into someone if there are a lot of people...!" It's also perfect for people who say this (lol).

My recommended course is:Waiting for the rabbit course" As the name suggests, this course is surrounded by beautiful trees, where it looks as though a rabbit might jump out at any moment. There are some sections that are a little steep, but you can fully enjoy the pleasant feeling of skiing in nature. There are relatively few people here, so it's a place where you can truly have the great outdoors of Norikura all to yourself.

"Mt. Norikura Snow Resort" is also the perfect place for your first ski or snowboard experience.Lift tickets are free for those under 18!It's also perfect for children to practice.

② Hot spring information

Did you know that there are actually three hot springs in Norikura Plateau? Each has its own unique characteristics, so we recommend enjoying a tour of the hot springs.

The first one is,Norikura Kogen Onsen」。
This is the hot spring with the most hot spring facilities in Norikura.
It is a milky white simple sulfur spring with a distinctive sulfurous scent typical of hot springs.
It has strong antibacterial properties, and even a short bath is said to warm the body from the inside out and stimulate metabolism.
However, the water is acidic and can be quite irritating, causing itching on some people's skin, so we recommend that you rinse off your body with a shower after bathing.

The second is,Suzuran Hot Spring」。
As the name suggests, Suzuran Onsen is a simple hot spring with its source in the Suzuran area of Norikura Plateau.
The water is clear and colorless, and contains plenty of bicarbonate ions. The temperature is not too high and the water is not too irritating, so you can enjoy a relaxing soak.

The third is,Azumi Norikura Onsen" Azumi Norikura Onsen is as clear and colorless as Suzuran Onsen, but it contains a lot of calcium and magnesium and has a slight metallic smell. The smooth water is also known as "beauty water" and is said to bring out the natural power of the skin.
The only place that draws water from this hot spring is Kyukamura Norikura Kogen.

In Norikura, "Norikura Kogen Onsen Yukemuri-kanThere are also accommodation facilities that accept day-trip bathing, including "."
