NORIKURA TIMES (Autumn Colors)

A pleasant autumn breeze blows through Norikura Plateau.
The autumn foliage season has arrived, with the entire plateau beautifully colored in red and yellow.
Whether you are planning to stay at Norikura Highlands or are looking for information on where to go to see the autumn leaves, please use this article as a reference to enjoy the autumn leaves at Norikura Highlands.

① Autumn leaves of Mt. Norikura

The autumn leaves reach their peak in early October around Tatamidaira and Igahara Sanso.
Along the Norikura Echo Line and the hiking trail from Katanokoyaguchi to Igahara Sanso, you can enjoy the scenery of red rowan trees and yellow-tinted Erman's birch.
If you would like to enjoy the autumn leaves in combination with hiking Mt. Norikura, we recommend climbing from Tatamidaira to Kengamine, then descending to Katabigoyaguchi and taking a leisurely walk to the area around Igahara Sanso.
*When returning to Norikura Kogen, you can board the bus from the Igahara Sanso bus stop or other locations.

② Hiking through the autumn leaves of Ichinose Grassland

The autumn foliage front that starts from Mt. Norikura gradually moves down, and by mid-October, Norikura Plateau is at its peak of autumn foliage.
Among them, Ichinose Grassland, where you can enjoy the scenery of the pond with its various expressions and Mt. Norikura, has many places to see autumn leaves.

This year, the setting is Ichinose Grassland.”Autumn Leaves Photo Contest” will be held for the first time.
The application period is from Saturday, October 5th to Sunday, November 10th. Please apply while enjoying the autumn leaves of Ichinose Grassland.

In addition, anyone who applies for the "Autumn Leaves Photo Contest" can participate.Photo Walkwill also be held on Monday, October 21st.
The instructor and guide will be nature photographer Susumu Yokota.
The local resident guide and support will be photographer Takuro Yamamoto, who has experience in mountain-related promotions.
This is a great opportunity to see Yokota's photography up close! Please come along!

Why not enjoy a hike through Ichinose Grassland during the vibrant autumn foliage season, along with a photo contest and photo walk?

◾️ Azami Pond
At the quiet Azami Pond, surrounded by broad-leaved trees, the trees, including Mizunara oak, shine yellow.

◾️ The trail between Dojo Pond and Maimeno Pond
The maple trees along the trail turn red.
There is also a tunnel of autumn leaves with two maple trees overlapping each other.

◾️ Maime Pond
The trees around the pond are vibrantly colored.
In the early morning, you may be able to witness the beautiful moment when mist rises from the pond.
