❶ What is Norikura BASE?

Norikura BASE is a "frontline base for mountain activities," where you can not only enjoy mountain activities (adventure park & kids adventure, mountain biking, mallet golf, etc.) to your heart's content, but also a base for enjoying activities (auto camping site, camper van site, etc.). You can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities unique to Norikura Highlands, depending on your age and ability.

The activities you can experience at Norikura BASE range from light activities for small children to activities that adults can enjoy with complete fascination. We will introduce each of the activities available.

❷ Take a walk through the trees at Adventure Park

The Adventure Park is an arboretum designed to take advantage of the forest trees and natural terrain. You can try out various elements (zip lines, single-plank bridges, trapeze, etc.) as you move from tree to tree. It's an incredible experience that will bring back the childhood memories of not only children but also adults who were once children.

The maximum height above ground is an astounding 9m! However, you will be wearing safety gear so please feel free to try it. It may be a little scary at first, but as you get used to it, you will find yourself enjoying the clear blue sky and the majestic mountain scenery that stretches out before your eyes. 3. Kids' athletic facilities for small children

If your child is still too young to try out the Adventure Park, try the Kids' Adventure (Adventure Athletics Facility). The log-based athletics, slides, Tarzan ropes and other athletics that stimulate the little ones' sense of adventure are popular with young children.

The athletic facilities are located next to the central plaza of Norikura Base, and offer a great view of Mt. Norikura, so you can spend your time relaxing. If you're traveling with children and want to take a break during your stay on the plateau, this is a great place to stop by and have some time to refresh yourself.

❹ Exhilarating mountain bike ride through the plateau

With its well-maintained cycling roads and dedicated trails, Norikura Highlands is the perfect place to enjoy mountain biking. Norikura Base offers tours with lectures for beginners, so even beginners, including children, can try it out with peace of mind. Why not head out and soak up the highland breeze while riding through the tree tunnels and enjoying the natural terrain unique to Norikura Highlands?

5. Enjoy mallet golf and fishing

Mallet golf is a great activity for everyone, from children to seniors, to enjoy together. The rules are simple so anyone can enjoy it, and you can play the course while feeling the natural beauty of Norikura Highlands up close.

You can also enjoy fishing for trout and rainbow trout at Lake Bachalpsee while looking out at Mount Norikura. Campers can also choose to eat the fish they catch themselves. Why not try some relaxing fishing in a place with a great view?

6. Camping that connects the sky and the earth

The Norikura Base campsite is attractive for its location at an altitude of 1,370m, offering a panoramic view of Mt. Norikura. The auto camping site and camper van site each offer ample space for camping. Looking up at the beautiful shape of Mt. Norikura, gazing at the clear Norikura blue sky, and surrounded by fresh air and lush greenery, you may feel as if you are connected to the sky and the earth.

Nighttime is also a great pleasure when camping. If the weather is clear, you'll be surrounded by a starry sky like you've never seen before, and if you're lucky, you might even be able to see the Milky Way with your naked eyes. Enjoy the thrill of gazing up at the starry sky to your heart's content while slowly warming yourself by the bonfire.

7. Enjoy a cafe time at Cafe Chillon, where the view is also a treat

Cafe Chillon is the place to drop in before or after an activity, or whenever you want to take a break. With a spectacular view of Mt. Norikura and a relaxing cafe time in a spacious space filled with the warmth of wood, it's a luxurious experience that can only be experienced here. Cafe Chillon offers a menu that uses carefully selected local ingredients. The soft serve ice cream made with goat's milk from Norikura is especially worth trying. It's sure to soothe your tired body after an activity.

Popular items on the food menu include the special keema curry and soft, homemade bread made by Ariji, a local favorite. The coffee, made with fair-trade beans roasted in Norikura, is delicious enough to impress even the most discerning coffee lovers.
